Origin Story

For over a decade, a close group of Marine Veterans have celebrated the Marine Corps Birthday. Each year this event grew organically. While we have been keeping the core values and traditions in place, we discovered the opportunity that we had created to build more awareness regarding issues impacting the veteran community. The loss of one's identity upon separation, combined with obscured mental health resources and a lack of transitional mentorship plague the veteran community as a whole. Thus, we decided to take a deliberate approach to planning and coordinating veteran focused events that allow for network and resource sharing within the community. By bringing veterans and community leaders together, we hope to ease the transition back to civilian lifestyle.

Mission

When a service member transitions out of the military and becomes a civilian again, a void is created. Where there once was a strong sense of belonging, camaraderie, and purpose, has now become a loss of identity. At Clime and Place, we aim to revive this sense of camaraderie, purpose and identity by facilitating a support system of like-minded individuals that have been through the same transitional period that you, as a veteran, are and/or have gone through. We have reconnected old service friends, helped veterans network for new opportunities, provided friend groups to decompress and navigate the challenges of being misunderstood, introduced service members to local leaders and reminded veterans that although our service does not define us, it will always remain a massive part of our identity.

Throughout the year we participate in and host a variety of events. We have joined the Irreverent Warriors team on a number of suicide awareness hikes, hosted our own brewing educational event at a local brewery in town, hosted a 150 + veteran (and their families) event at the Medal of Honor Museum in celebration of the Marine Corps Birthday, host fundraising car washes, our own Camaraderie Hike, and many other veteran themed events. Our mission statement is meant to be malleable and change with the organization as it grows. 2024 will be the fourth year of the team working to grow this community and the second year as an official non-profit organization. We will keep growing and we hope that you will join us along the way!
